Our Attorneys
Chris Archer graduated from Washington University with a BSBA and from St. Louis University School of Law in 1990. He has served as in house staff attorney for Wausau Insurance Company as well as staff counsel for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company. He opened his own defense firm in January of 1998 providing legal representation as well as education for employers, third party administrators, as well as insurers in the area of workers’ compensation.
He is a contributing editor/author of the Missouri Bar’s lawyer desk reference book on Missouri workers’ compensation, and author of the Missouri Bar’s monthly Courts and CLE Bulletin published statewide. He is a perennial speaker at the DWC annual seminar and has been a past speaker at the Missouri Bar’s advanced workers’ compensation annual seminar, for the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis and for the Missouri Self-Insured Association.
He was an advising attorney for business lobbying groups in the drafting and editing of Senate Bill 1 and 130, signed into law by Governor Blunt in March, 2005 and was selected as one of a group of attorneys as a recipient of the 2005 Lawyer of Year Award from Missouri Lawyers’ Weekly, a statewide weekly law newspaper. He was honored to receive the 2012 Distinguished Lawyer Award presented by Kids’ Chance of Missouri and the Bar Association of Metropolitan Saint Louis.
In 1999, he received an AV rating from Martindale-Hubbell, the highest ratings for both legal ability and ethical conduct rated by judges and peers in his field of practice.
Dennis Lassa joined the firm in June, 2000, and was made a member of the LLC in January, 2004. He graduated in 1990 from University of Missouri School of Law and has experience in defending civil cases in both State and Federal Court but for the last several years has practiced almost exclusively in the field of workers’ compensation, defending employers and insurers in Missouri.
He is engaged in the defense of workers’ compensation claims on a daily basis and has extensive experience in handling all aspects of workers’ compensation litigation in Missouri. He has successfully argued the appeal of workers’ compensation cases before the Labor & Industrial Relations Commission, Missouri Court of Appeals and Supreme Court of Missouri.
Timothy Maurer graduated from the Saint Louis University School of Law cum laude in December 2011. During law school he had externships with the United States District Court for the Southern District of Illinois and the St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, as well as employment as a paralegal with Hinshaw & Culbertson LLP doing medical malpractice and insurance defense work. He obtained an undergraduate degree from the University of Evansville in 2002.
Tim is licensed to practice law in Missouri. He served as a Missouri Assistant Attorney General in the St. Louis office from July 2012-2014. His work was in the Labor Division, defending the state Central Accident Reporting Office and the Second Injury Fund in workers’ compensation cases before joining Archer, Lassa & McHugh in May 2014. He has argued cases to the Labor and Industrial Relations Commission and briefed appellate cases at the Missouri Eastern District Court of Appeals.
